Shower Power

At my last salon appointment, my hair girl and I discussed the future of my hair length. I absolutely adore my long hair, but have been afraid that cutting 4 inches (or more - gasp!) is what it needs to remain healthy. My ends get pretty brittle and frayed, even though I don't use products on my hair. I have tried oil drops and leave-in conditioner on my ends to keep them from looking fried, but that only results in a temporary fix.
So, my hair girl reassured me that no drastic measures need to be taken, just a little trim more often than what I have been getting and quit using conditioner for a while. Say what!?! No conditioner? I have always used conditioner on my hair - to not use it would be like splitting Yin and Yang, but I have skipped that process for the last week and am actually surprised at how much I don't need it. We'll see in a couple weeks how my ends are holding up ... anyone have any tips?

omg that is so weird your stylist said no conditioner. I would have thought she would have just recommended a different type... my stylist said conditioning is a must because shampoo strips a lot a lot from your hair and conditioner puts back the good stuff im sure your stylist knows what shes saying cause she has seen you hair and what she said seems to be working for you... just surprised me!!

cutting 4 inches would scare me too! Thats alot! Hears to healthy hair:)

i just cut 3 inches off, a much needed thing for me. i have never not used conditioner...i would never be able to brush through my hair without it. hope it helps not using it! :)

I cut 10 inches off about five months ago. It was a drastic change but I liked it. I've never heard of a hair stylist advising someone to not condition, but if it works for you then I guess that's all that matters. :-)
