i.voted.

While I am sad that my candidates did not win this election, I am awfully proud to be an American in such a monumental time in history! I do not agree with Obama's views, but I do not dislike him. I was excited to see our new, African-American president and his beautiful family proudly stand on stage in front of all his supporters. I can only hope that he can lead this country in the right direction and out of the unfortunate state of our economy. He's got 4 years to prove himself. We'll see what he can do.

Oh boy, April. Glad you posted this. I have been struggling with how to post my "post election thoughts". He is our new president, and whether I agree with his morals or not, I will respect him and hope that he will lead our country well!

(I am constantly refreshing our local news channels website watching Prop 8... it's a close one, but I am hopeful it will pass!)

Hope all is well with you guys! :)

Well said April! While I did vote for Obama, I would have felt the same way about McCain had he won. I would like to thank you for posting this and realizing that while your chosen candidate was not the nation's final pick (though he was very close) - that we do have a new president and that we need to support him regardless of our views. I commend you for thoughs and again thank you for sharing them. I am with you on the four years - let's see what he can do.
Have a great day!

Hey April! Well said! Joe Kelly here.:) I am now blogging myself and posted my election thoughts as well. I totally agree that our new President needs our respect and hopefully he does okay. I know I will be praying for him!

I unfortunately loudly declare that do not like Obama and all of his views are very left winged/ socialist, but he is our president like you said so lets give him 4 years and get him out:) The thing that bothers me is all that has been said and proven, he doesn't wear any flag apparel, doesn't cross his heart for the national anthem, has been dubbed the next messiah and everyone is fondling all over him like he is. Think that change is coming..well we'll see if change happens and if it doesn't or its negative then everyone will see who they really chose. I will really pray that this direction is lead by God and will be praying for everything.

Great post! I also did not vote for Obama but I do believe the Lord put him in office for a reason and that there is no better time than now to get serious about praying for our president and his staff. I may not agree with a lot of his beliefs but he is our president elect and he is due the respect that comes along with that.

I was watching the news this morning and it hit me...and it made me cry.
They showed pictures of people partying on U Street in Washington DC. That same part of the city was destroyed when the riots broke out after MLK was assassinated.

I guess I just don't understand how people can't realize the bigger picture of this occasion. It's not just race, but yet, so much of it is. Yes there are parts of the country that are still backwards...but as we learned through this election there are parts of the country that are miserable and desire a change, and want to break the status quo. I think people are being sore losers and failing to see how much history was changed in one single night.

We will tell our children about last night....and it will be a happy story. It won't be sad like 9/11, it won't be a story about how we messed up as a country (like electing the wrong guy for two terms, when we could have had someone who won the Nobel prize!).

Maybe I'm way more liberal than I ever thought....but how can people NOT see the wonderful magnitude of last night? As Americans, we really need to come together, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans and keep after our politicians. Voting alone isn't our only obligation to this country.

When I held my daughter this morning, I knew that the idea of her becoming President wasn't one that would any longer be considered far-fetched.
